Description

The candidate must have a BS or MSEE degree and a minimum of 12-15 years of relevant working experience in new product development from a design, platform, product and/or program management discipline. The candidate should have experience both as a technical lead as well as a project manager. The candidate must also have a strong understanding of the general silicon engineering process (preferably CPU or GPU), from concept to tape-out to production. Furthermore, the candidate should have experience with driving a multi-site and multi-disciplined engineering program.

The candidate should be a proven leader, be able create and maintain a working cross functional team and manage in a matrixed environment. A successful candidate must have exceptional verbal, as well as written, communication skills. In addition, the role requires outstanding people management skills to lead, motivate, and guide world class engineers.

Additional requirements:

  • Ability to scope a program end to end
  • Solid understanding of financial and management accounting
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to structure and execute complex analysis, draw insights, and communicate summary findings/recommendations to senior management and AMD customers
  • Ability to network, build relationships, and drive effective decision-making across multiple functions and levels within the organization
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize, and juggle multiple work streams to tight deadlines

Responsibilities:

Develop and drive GPU development schedules to enable AMD success in Data Center, HPC, and machine learning customers. The first priority program is the El Capitan Supercomputer built by HPE with AMD CPU and AMD GPU technology.  This will be the world’s most powerful supercomputer.  This opportunity is a once in a career opportunity to help lead this program.  Leads the program core team that is composed of:

  • Design, technology, supply chain, platform, product, software, ecosystem, quality and business functions.

Responsible to Data Center and Embedded staff and reports out regularly on status, decisions, issues, etc… during execution.

The Data Center and Embedded program manager owns the following:

  1. Delivering on all program commitments from concept exit to production
  2. Program-level definition in concert with Business Teams
    1. Responsible for vetting or rejecting new business asks and sanctions scoping proposed or agreed upon changes by the core team
    2. Owns driving core team to consensus on technical decisions that impact bounding box
  3. Hitting cost, schedule, committed features, power, performance
  4. Delivering overall messaging of status/issues to key internal/ external stakeholders and customers
  5. Tailors the roles of each core team member according to the needs of the program including defining cross functional ownership, and managing effective performance of the core team, and managing the membership to achieve program objectives,

- “All aspects of the program, in alignment with the customer and Business Division objectives”
