Description
Broadcom's Core Switching Group (CSG) is looking for a highly motivated Board Design Engineer to become a key member of the hardware development team. You will work with cross functional teams to define system architecture and design systems based on Broadcom switch devices.
CSG develops large and integrated system-on-chip (SoC) devices for a wide variety of market segments from SMB to Enterprise. Our team designs reference, validation and production boards. Designs include multi-core embedded processors, Ethernet switches with numerous high speed SERDES (25G, 50G PAM4, PCI-E) and DDR4 or test chips to explore future generation technology. Required Qualifications:
7-10 yrs of experience as a Hardware Engineer
Experience in taking a complex design through entire H/W development cycle (specification, schematics, layout, bring-up, characterization and compliance testing).
Knowledge of power integrity concepts (decoupling capacitors, transient response, PDN design, etc.)
Knowledge of signal integrity concepts (crosstalk, insertion/return loss, termination, BGA breakout, fab material selection, etc.)
Proficient in system bring-up, characterization and debugging complex embedded systems
Experience with high volume production design
Direct knowledge high speed SERDES design (25G, 50G PAM4) and PCIe, DDR, USB, SPI, I2C interfaces
Proficient with OrCad/DxDesigner and Cadence Allegro software tools
Experience working with PCB and PCA suppliers
Experience working with ODMs and OEMs overseas
Proficient with high speed oscilloscopes, bus and network analyzers.
Ability to work with cross functional teams (ASIC, SERDES Test, SYSOPS, SW, AE, PM, MECH, etc.)
Additional Qualifications:
Scripting in Python, Perl, TCL, VB, or shell
Familiarity with SI/PI software tools
Exposure to mechanical and thermal analysis
