The Probe Test Technology Engineer supports development and release of production worthy probe technologies needed to support the probe test roadmaps for TI products. This role ensures the integrity of the probe test solutions, equipment, and peripherals produced in the supply chain and used inside TI factories and subcons. This individual proactively drives the supplier roadmaps to continually be well ahead of TI business technology roadmaps so we are always prepared for new product RTM and ramp to volume test needs. The role also supports probe technology & process improvements and problem-solving efforts with the focus on assuring highest quality and highest efficiency probe test solutions for the Businesses & Multi-Probe areas. This role requires high collaboration with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Probe equipment suppliers while taking input from the businesses and other TTG internal teams.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Interact extensively with TTG, SC Packaging, Business Units, Analog Technology Development (ATD), Manufacturing sites, and Probe Suppliers, to meet product development needs.
  • Act as the primary representative for TTG in developing all new and improved probe technologies that are needed to meet TI business product test roadmaps.
  • Be the lead in driving the “One Make Probe Team” activities for standards across all TI probe sites both internal and sub-con
  • Own and document probe technology qualification & testing requirements needed to prove new technologies are acceptable for use in TI applications.
  • Perform supplier audits, and drive corrective actions with suppliers that relate directly to the quality of their technology.
  • Execute and own all new supplier qualifications for new probe technologies and through these publish and own the TI approved list of all probe technologies and guidelines on how to select them.  Analyze data and review with teams to make final qualification decisions.
  • Define internal qualification systems & test vehicles to enable TI to do internal probe peripheral equipment qualifications ahead of device ramp and collect factual data on the peripheral equipment performance.
  • Recommend performance monitoring systems to track supplier performance objectively and work with users of technology to ensure probe technologies are performing per TI expectations.
  • Monitor Probe supplier quality via internal quality Alert systems or other tracking methods, review 3x5 why reports and verify suppliers are performing committed corrective actions to address systemic quality problems.
  • Organize and drive supplier technology review meetings with probe equipment and peripheral equipment vendors with Procurement and TTG teams and own each supplier technologies that are approved for use inside TI.
  • Work with Procurement teams to manage overall supplier technical performance with Procurement team being main supplier performance management driver overall.
  • Define deliverables, conformance, specifications, procedures that we hold suppliers accountable to and own all communications & training of these requirements to the suppliers.
  • International and Domestic Travel are required periodically to visit suppliers and factories.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum education: bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of probe test operation and common probe technology problems
  • Working experience with cross functional teams like, Design, Product and Test, and packaging or assembly.
  • ATE programming, test data analysis, test cell debug experience is a plus

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
  • Working well in a team environment, external suppliers is imperative in this role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
  • Knowledge of wafer fab processing and how this relates to Probe Test is a plus
  • Good listener and excellent verbal and written communication skills
