Senior Field Applications Engineer (Automotive)

Renesas Electronics America is seeking a Field Applications Engineer with experience in automotive embedded development and support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for understanding and explaining Renesas device features, and supporting customers through all stages of the design, development and production process.

Responsibilities:

• Recommend products for new designs, ARM-based SoCs, and analog and power products
• Work with customers to integrate the recommended products into new automotive-focused designs
• Manage technical interaction between Renesas and the customer
• Provide failure analysis expertise
• Provide technical support for developing designs
• Debugging
• Design reviews
• Sample code
• Answering technical questions
• PCB design recommendations
• Interact with technical resources in U.S., Europe and Japan
• Coordinate and participate in customer technical training
• Support Sales and Marketing in the introduction of devices to customers
• Provide internal feedback on future customer requirements

Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• 8+ years of experience in microcontroller-centric design and application development
• 2+ years in an embedded technical support role preferred
• Design experience with R-Car family of products
• Strong background in microcontroller hardware and embedded, real time software development
• Strong background with debuggers, compilers, IDEs, programmers, emulators, etc.
• Strong communications skills (written and verbal)
• Able to work independently with a motivated self-driven style
