NVIDIA is hiring a Robotics Hardware Intern to work in the robotics platform team.
What you’ll be doing:
Everything robots! Robotics is the definition of a multidisciplinary field, especially when it comes to the hardware. We are looking for a dedicated engineer of all trades who takes pride in quality work. Both an artist’s creative spirit and a scientist’s commitment to documentation and critical thinking are necessary.

Engage in a wide variety of tasks to support robotics research and development work at NVIDIA.

Support ongoing projects by tackling mechanical and/or electrical design tasks, going from concept design through prototyping and fabrication.

Contribute with hands-on troubleshooting, repair, circuit & cable fabrication to full robot design & build projects.
What we need to see:
-
Student in a mechanical, electrical or mechatronics engineering undergraduate or graduate program

Proven fundamentals in math, statics & dynamics, and DC circuit analysis.

Electromechanical design project & prototyping experience: Hand tools, 3D printing, soldering, breadboarding, cable fabrication, etc.

Knowledge and experience using common robotics sensor and actuators

Basic programming experience (C/C++, Python)

Analog & digital circuit design & analysis knowledge

Willingness and ability to take on multidisciplinary tasks, with an eagerness to learn new things with each project

Exposure to at least one software in both MCAD (Solidworks, NX, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, etc.) and ECAD (Eagle, Altium, KiCAD, LTspice, etc) domains.

Experience with hobbyist MCUs and/or SBCs (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, NVIDIA Jetson Nano, etc.)
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Have deployed NVIDIA Jetson platforms in projects (Nano, TX1, TX2, Xavier AGX)
- Extensive ECAD experience in multi-layer PCB circuit design, layout, and SPICE simulation. Have had PCB designs optimally fabricated & deployed.
- Extensive MCAD experience which demonstrates knowledge of DFM/DFA principles. Experience crafting with sheet metal, thermoplastics and/or injection molded parts. GD&T knowledge. Have successfully sent out parts for fabrication from engineering drawings.
- Machine design and/or controls engineering knowledge & experience (gears, pulleys, motor control, PIDs & Nyquist plots)
- Extensive or specialized skills in machining and/or rapid prototyping techniques
- Experience working with a variety of communication protocols (RS-232/485, i2c, SPI, CAN, etc.)
- Experience with microcontroller and/or FPGA programming
