R&D SW Quality Engineer

Broadcom is a market leading semiconductor company based in San Jose, California. The Wireless Connectivity group in Broadcom is seeking a Software Test and Automation Engineer in the Software Verification team. The job involves development of highly scalable, reliable, and maintainable test automation solution towards testing of Embedded Wireless LAN products. You will also be required to perform manual tests for different test areas including feature/functional, performance and stability/stress. We are looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual with strong technical and interpersonal skills who can contribute in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and extend test frameworks and test scripts (you must know how to write automation tests rather than simply execute them)
• Identify effective test strategies for new/existing features of our wireless software and craft test plans accordingly
• Automate test cases written and execute as part of new feature testing; enabling automated regression runs for subsequent releases.
• Perform regression tests against changes in software and hardware.
• Find software bugs through manual testing, automated scripting, and report investigation.
• Analyzing failures and determining root cause, filing defects in the Defect Tracking System and driving them to closure

Requirements 

• 2-3 years of software test experience with at least 1 year of Scripting/Automation experience
• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or proof of exceptional skills in related fields.
• Understanding of Software Development and QA methodologies
• Experience with Python or other scripting languages
• Ability to define/design/develop/maintain test automation/scripts and other related materials
• Experience in developing test plans/test cases based on the requirements
• Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP) and wireless (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax) basics
• Experience with Jenkins a plus
• Experience working in a Customer facing team is a plus
